Hateley Opts For Telford
7th June 2004
Shot stopper Gary Hateley has left Bedworth United to join the newly formed AFC Telford.
Hateley, who played nearly every game last season has agreed a deal with the Unibond Division 1 side - and informed Mark Hallam of his departure on Thursday evening.
Hallam will also be without Matt Ford for much longer than first anticipated, and may have to opt for surgery to repair his injury.
The Greenbacks chief said "Gary goes with our best wishes, he opted to move with the arrival of two new keepers and the chance to play for the new Telford.
"I would like to thank Gary for his hard work last season and wish him well with his new club.
"With Matty Fords injury being worse than first anticipated, this really opens the door for Shaun Hayes to make a real claim to the Number 1 Jersey"
Bedworth United will be without Jon Deakin after the former Kidderminster Harriers player broke down during training
"Thats no real dent in our plans. Jon was always here as a Bonus, he wasn't an original target but when the opportunity arose to sign him it was a Bonus, but we move on
Hallam was delighted with his squads opening Training session <>i>"It went really well and if the quality, attitude and desire is anything to go by thiese could be very exciting times ahead"
